These images were printed by the fine people at Magnolia Press, Emeryville, CA. In preparation for their printing, each wood panel was shellacked and gessoed twice. The photograph was then projected onto the panel, with another gesso layer to give three-dimensionality to parts of the image. Finally, they were selectively painted with oils. This process, though painstaking, was a successful alternative to ending up in a white mat, behind glass with a frame. The ICM images lent themselves to a different final presentation asking that their movement and explosiveness be free of a frame.
